George Frederick Chambers (1841 - 1914) was an English barrister, author, and amateur astronomer who wrote a number of popular science books simply told for the enjoyment of general readers. We discovered his works, The Story of Eclipses (1899), with stories including eclipses cited in literature and interesting customs related to eclipses, in anticipation of the total solar eclipse occurring August 21, 2017.
