Sophocles

Sophocles

Sophocles (498 - 406 BCE) is one of three ancient Greek tragic playwrights whose works survived the ages. The other two are Aeschylus and Euripides. Sophacles' books include The Thebans and Sophacles. His numerous Greek tragedy plays include: Oedipus the King, Antigone, and Women of Trachis. We feature Oedipus the King, which remains on the required reading list to introduce high school students to classic Greek literature.
