North and South

Considered one of Gaskell's best works and a significant piece of Victorian fiction, North and South is set in mid-19th century in England. The story follows Margaret Hale and her family as they move to a Milton, a factory town in Northern England. It features a strong female protagonist, unveils a mature love story, and serves as commentary on industrialization and class antagonism.
