Richmal Crompton (1890 - 1969) was an English schoolmistress and writer. Though she considered her real purpose to compose adult fiction, publishing forty-one books and nine short story collections, she is renowned for her sentimental Just-William series of books and stories, about a mischievous eleven year old boy and his friends, who called themselves "The Outlaws." We feature a few of these stories here.
For adults, we feature Crompton's off-beat Christmas story, The Christmas Present, in Christmas Stories. You'll figure out the "gift" early in the story; a pleasurable read to the end.
